Here's a local delicacy you have to try on Thassos

 Local recipe Zucchini blossoms stuffed with varieties of greek cheese, battered and fried in olive oil      This is a local delicacy most Thassians love to eat from the hands of their mothers and grandmothers. It can also be found (during summer season) in many taverns and restaurants on the island.      Zucchini blossoms come out of the zucchini plant. It grows in most of the residents household gardens on the warm summer days. Every morning the plant makes new blossoms but they wither within 24 hours. They stay open only for a few hours. So, the right time to gather them is every morning while they are still open because after closing it's harder to stuff them.             A fter picking them, we cut off the stems and pistils and we stuff them with cheese.
